natural yeast occurs almost everywhere especially in nature but in a urban area like where I live, to insure the presence of yeast you should add it

  • kidcooker

interesting idea. If i may offer a couple of suggestions. When the wine stops fermenting or if the wine cools from room temp change near the end of fermentation the wine bottle could siphon the water back intoyour wine. Another way to allow for expansion and still keep the bottle sanitized is to use a clean dry balloon over the top of the bottle. Just release the c02 daily from the balloon. And when the balloon deflates your fermentation has stopped.

siphoning alone won’t filter enough in opinion. I recommend a cheesecloth or any other type of cloth filter in a funnel. coffee filters work but take forever. good luck and let me know if you have any other probs

  • hustlerwoo

if you don’t see any bubbles then that means one of three things.

    1) the vessel isn’t air tight so the CO2 is going out through another port

    2) the yeast have all died before you started or you didn’t give enough time for the yeast to grow before putting it in the bottle

    3) you forget the yeast

bubbling should occur within 2-3 hours of setting it up. also make sure the environment temperature is room temperature. good luck and let me know if you have any other probs

hey i have made the same little fermentaion contraption but i havent seen any bubbles yet how long until it starts bubbling???
im very curious to see if it will work

    To hustlerwoo:
How do you filter? Do you use an ordinary coffee filter?
When I make wine, I used siphoning supplied by
    R.J Spagnol winemaking equipment.

MAN!!! You sound so much like super terry ahhaa

  • hustlerwoo

just mash some fruit, sugar, water and yeast and put it into the bottle for the yeast to ferment the sugars into alcohol. When the bubbles stop, that means all the yeast died because the alcohol content caused the acidity to rise and killed all the yeast. Just filter the content which should be approximately 10-12% alcohol.

  • jeewoomaster

nice i like this idea but how do you make the wine

  • Bert

Cool video! My first try at a cab was a disaster (I think I ended up with some cleaning solution/acid in my batch). Since that first attempt, I have found that it is both a science, and an art! My second batch was a success, and a good one if I don’t say so myself.  I did find a website that helped a ton though (broke down and paid, but well worth it) at http://www.how-to-make-wine.com  I am sure there are others too. Cheers!
